Almut Bormann besuchte das Musikgymnasium Belvedere in Weimar und studierte danach zunächst an der Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar und nach dem Vordiplom an der Hochschule für Musik und Theater Leipzig bei Prof. Dietmar Hallmann. Dort legte sie auch das Konzertexamen „mit Auszeichnung“ ab. Sie war Preisträgerin bei „Jugend musiziert“ und beim Kammermusikwettbewerb der Hochschule für Musik Leipzig. Seit 2004 ist sie Vorspielerin der Bratschen der Staatskapelle Weimar.

Almut Bormann attended the Belvedere High School for Music in Weimar and went on to study at the city’s Franz Liszt conservatoire, continuing after her intermediate diploma with Prof. Dietmar Hallmann at the College of Music and Drama in Leipzig, where she passed her concert examination “with distinction”. She was a prizewinner in “Jugend musiziert” and at the chamber music competition of the Leipzig College of Music. Since 2004 she has been lead violist of the Weimar Staatskapelle.
