Astrid Müller nahm nach dem Abitur zunächst ein Kompositions- und Violoncellostudium an der Dresdner Musikhochschule auf, wechselte an die Leipziger Hochschule für Musik und Theater und absolvierte dort sowohl ihr Studium im Fach Violoncello als auch das anschließende Meisterklassenstudium mit Auszeichnung. Sie studierte in der Klasse von Prof. Wolfgang Weber. In dieser Zeit war sie Substitutin des Gewandhausorchesters, gewann das Gewandhaus-Stipendium, gastierte als Solistin und Kammermusikerin in Kanada, den USA, der Schweiz und Polen und erhielt ein Graduiertenstipendium des Freistaates Sachsen. Astrid Müller ist seit 1999 Mitglied der Staatskapelle Weimar. In dieser Zeit begann sie auch, sich mit authentischer Musizierpraxis auf dem Barockcello zu beschäftigen. Sie ist Mitglied des Ensembles Hofmusik Weimar und des Weimarer Barockensembles, mit dem sie zahlreiche Konzerte gibt, so u.a. beim Kissinger Musiksommer 2006 und 2013.

Astrid Müller began her university studies with the study of composition and violoncello at the Dresden College of Music. She transferred to the Leipzig College of Music and Drama and graduated there in cello, proceeding to complete her advanced master-class studies with distinction. She studied in the class of Prof. Wolfgang Weber. At this time she was an alternate in the Gewandhaus Orchestra, won the Gewandhaus scholarship, made guest appearances in Canada, the USA, Switzerland and Poland as soloist and chamber musician and was awarded a graduate scholarship by the Free State of Saxony. Astrid Müller has been a member of the Weimar Staatskapelle since 1999. It was at that time that she began to acquaint herself with authentic performance practice on the Baroque cello. She is a member of Hofmusik Weimar and the Weimar Baroque Ensemble, with whom she gives frequent concerts, as at the Bad Kissingen Summer Music Festival in 2006 and 2013.
